Monday’s game against Hopkins was a heartbreaker for Wyoming Wolves Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 9-7 defeat. The game was tied at five with Hopkins batting in the top of the sixth when a sacrifice bunt by #13 scored one run for Hopkins.
Despite the loss, Wyoming Wolves Varsity did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Hopkins had six hits on the way to victory.
Hopkins fired up the offense in the first inning. Hopkins scored one run when #11 doubled.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Wyoming Wolves Varsity tied things up at five when Arturo Morales singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
#2 was the winning pitcher for Hopkins. He surrendered four runs on three hits over one and one-third innings, striking out one. #8 threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Carter VanDyke took the loss for Wyoming Wolves Varsity. He surrendered five runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out one.
#10 started the game for Hopkins. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six
Kyle Ratliff, Donny Buentello, Dillon Boukma, Dylan Holton, Morales, and Rush Bash all had one hit to lead Wyoming Wolves Varsity. Wyoming Wolves Varsity stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Buentello led the way with two.
#11 went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hopkins in hits. Hopkins didn’t commit a single error in the field. #7 had the most chances in the field with 12.
